There are so many genres, artists, songs to choose from. As time goes on, the universal music catalog grows. As a DJ and producer, I get asked the tough questions. “Who is my favorite artist?” “What is my favorite song of all time?” For awhile, I couldn’t answer these questions, but I knew someone, somewhere would ask me these questions and I needed an answer. When I met my Kasie, I wanted to test her music knowledge. It just so happens we made each other come up with a top 100 favorite songs list. When we got to the end of our lists, this is what they looked like:
Sully's Top 10 Songs
10. Bump N’ Grind by R. Kelly
9. Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton
8. Club Bangaz by Partners-N-Crime
7. Regulate ft. Nate Dogg by Warren G
6. The Freshmen by Verve Pipe
5. Why Y’all Haters So Mad by Lil Flip
When I got my first vehicle, I had a CD with this song on it. I would ride my Jeep through the sugarcane fields jammin’ this song. Lil Flip is a favorite of mine.
4. 50 Shots Set It Off by Hot Boys
This song reminds me of summers in Waveland, MS. My brother had a Pontiac Trans-Am, and we would cruise up and down the beach listening to this song.
3. What Its Like by Everlast
What Its Like is a deep song. I’m not a deep person, but this song is a life lesson. Don’t judge anyone until you have walked a day in that person’s shoes.
2. What I Got by Sublime
This song just makes a bad day, great! I never skip over this track.
1. Juicy by The Notorious B.I.G.
This is the rags to riches song. Dreaming big, and making dreams a reality. Most mornings on my way to work, I’ll play this song to motivate me. My favorite line is…. “Birthdays were the worst days, now we sip champagne when we thirstayyyyy!” I think we all have a lot to learn from this song…. Reach for the stars.
